What happens

Writer Jerry Yule calls private investigator George Valentine to help solve a mysterious story involving a foreign sailor, a valuable green and orange parrot, and some dangerous characters at the dilapidated Neptune Palace hotel on the waterfront. When the sailor who sold the parrot is found dead in an alley and another hotel resident dies under suspicious circumstances, George must untangle the web of secrets surrounding the bird and the people at the hotel.

The Neptune Palace, a run-down old waterfront hotel in a fog-shrouded harbor district, now occupied by permanent residents including a sea captain and other characters from the area's past.

Characters: George Valentine, Brooksie, Jerry Yule, Captain Charlie, Lymie, Sadie, Morton, Lieutenant Johnson

Listen for: The parrot's repeated cry of 'drop dead' and the mysterious circumstances surrounding who really caused the deaths at the hotel; George's deduction about counterfeiting and replaced money that explains the crimes.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
