What happens

A mute ten-year-old boy is brought to police sergeant Mike Murphy after nearly being hit by a squad car at three in the morning. The boy won't speak and can't communicate who he is or where he came from, but the police suspect he witnessed something frightening at the waterfront that night. George Valentine is called in to help track down the boy's identity and discover what scared him into silence before it's too late.

A city waterfront and police precinct, present day at midday and the previous night at three a.m.

Characters: George Valentine, Sergeant Mike Murphy, Sally, Shorty, The Captain, The Sailor, The Dock Watchman

Listen for: George's investigation of the mute boy and his attempts to get information from street kids and dock workers about what happened at the pier the night before.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
