What happens

Insurance investigator Johnny Dollar arrives at the Valentine house moments after Terry Valentine is shot and killed. He apprehends one of two gunmen fleeing the scene, but the suspect dies in police custody without revealing who ordered the murders. As the bodies pile up—Terry, her father Dan Valentine, his lawyer Conrad Webster, and others—Johnny struggles to understand the motive behind the seemingly senseless killings.
