What happens
Insurance investigator Johnny Dollar travels to the Montana town of Silver Gulch after Mercedes Crabtree, an elderly widow whose life policy was sold by Murdoch Morton of the Floyd's of England office, goes missing. A friend, Henrietta Scott, reported that someone had shot at Mrs. Crabtree. Dollar finds the town divided over Crabtree's refusal to sell her land and the old Silver Bell mine to developer Charlie Greenpaw. Dollar searches the mine, carries the injured widow out, and looks into the shooting. The story is from Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar, starring Bob Bailey, first heard on CBS Radio in 1957.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
