What happens
Johnny Dollar, a special investigator for Universal Insurance, is sent to Lexington, Kentucky, to look into a claim filed after a horse died on the Calgor farm. Frank Harnan, his employer, wants the matter settled quickly, while the farm's owner, Cal Calgor, is hostile and uncooperative. Dollar questions the farm staff, the veterinarian Dr. Beer, and the horse handler Jim Knight, whose account conflicts with the official report. He also speaks with Cal's daughter, Lucy, who seems uneasy about her father's behavior. Dollar's inquiries stir up tension across the farm as the claim becomes harder to verify. This is part of the CBS Radio series Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar, first broadcast on June 9, 1953, with Bob Bailey in the lead role.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
