What happens

Insurance investigator Johnny Dollar meets with a woman claiming to be Doris McLean, who tells him an extraordinary story: two years ago in Los Angeles, her husband Dr. Dave McLean staged her death using the body of a patient who died in his office, collected $10,000 from her life insurance policy, and then abandoned her in New York without explanation. She is now coming forward to confess the fraud and wants Dollar to investigate what happened to her missing husband.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
