What happens

Insurance investigator Johnny Dollar investigates the murder of Jonathan Wells, who died from ground glass poisoning. The autopsy reveals a suspicious pattern: Wells' widow was previously married to a man named Walter Mayburley Burke who died suddenly two and a half years ago under mysterious circumstances. As Johnny questions the widow Mabel Burke and protects the victim's daughter Norma Wells, he discovers evidence that someone has broken into Norma's apartment and planted ground glass in her sugar bowl.

A city with hotels, apartments, and police headquarters; the investigation spans Hartford and references a death in St. Louis from two and a half years prior.

Characters: Johnny Dollar, Dave (police contact), Mabel Burke (the widow), Norma Wells (Jonathan Wells' daughter), Burton Creeley (Mabel's nephew), Max Lancer (DA's office)

Listen for: The revelation of the planted ground glass in Norma's sugar bowl and the connection between Jonathan Wells' death and the suspicious earlier death of Mabel Burke's first husband, Walter Mayburley Burke.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
