What happens
Johnny Dollar is hired to investigate the death of a man who died three days ago, supposedly from acute enteritis. The man's daughter suspects foul play by his new wife, Mabel Burke, who is the beneficiary of a fifty-thousand-dollar life insurance policy taken out just five months before his death. The wife, whom the daughter describes as strange and possessive, had met the father through a lonely hearts club advertisement less than a month before their marriage.
Hartford, Connecticut and Chicago, Illinois; the insurance office, Wells family home, and the Rendezvous Club
Characters: Johnny Dollar, Dave Elwood, Miss Wells, Mabel Burke, the father (deceased), the coroner
Listen for: The investigation into whether Mabel Burke murdered her husband for insurance money; Johnny Dollar's visit to the Rendezvous Club to learn more about how the couple met
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
