What happens
Insurance investigator Johnny Dollar arrives in Denver to take over a case from fellow investigator Tommy Thompson, who has been killed in what appears to be a hit-and-run accident. Thompson had been working on a matter involving Frank Latourette, whose wife died in a bookstore fire ruled accidental by authorities. Dollar must determine whether these deaths are genuine accidents or connected to something Thompson discovered.
Denver, Colorado in 1953, including a hotel, police station, and Latourette's home in Park Hill.
Characters: Johnny Dollar, Lieutenant Mapes, Bessie Thompson, Frank Latourette
Listen for: The contradictions between the official accident rulings and Bessie Thompson's conviction that her husband was murdered for what he uncovered about Latourette; Johnny Dollar's methodical investigation as he reviews police reports and seeks the truth.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
