What happens

Insurance investigator Johnny Dollar probes the theft of a $20,000 pearl necklace and the murder of Smiley Pearl, a professional thief. Betty Jackson, the maid, has been arrested after being caught with the gun that killed Pearl, but without the necklace as evidence, the case remains incomplete. Dollar begins to suspect the crime may be more complex than it appears.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
