What happens

Insurance adjuster Johnny Dollar arrives in snowy Calver, Montana to investigate George Henderson's death—whether it was an accident, suicide, or murder. After learning that Henderson had changed his insurance beneficiary from his wife Pauline to a woman named Matilda Knickerbocker just before his death, Johnny seeks out both women to understand what led to Henderson falling from a hotel window.
