What happens
Insurance investigator Johnny Dollar is sent to the Grand Canyon to track down Christy Orloff, a small-time criminal suspected of possessing a stolen ruby and emerald necklace worth nearly a million dollars. The thieves who stole it from a jewelry firm have already been caught and claim they handed the necklace to Orloff, but police found no trace of it on him. Lieutenant Singer believes Orloff is heading to the Grand Canyon to make a contact and pass off the jewels, so he sends Johnny out to intercept him.
New York City, a train to Chicago, and the Grand Canyon region of Arizona
Characters: Johnny Dollar, Bill Kramer, Lieutenant Randolph Singer, Christy Orloff, Rafe Kelly
Listen for: Johnny's skepticism about finding the necklace when police couldn't locate it on Orloff, and Singer's confidence that the Grand Canyon is where Orloff plans to make his move
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
