What happens
Special investigator Johnny Dollar is assigned by the Universal Adjustment Bureau to look into the death of gambler Everett Reed. Carol Carson, who is engaged to Johnny, was found beside the body and says she was dizzy and remembers little of the hours before, so Johnny checks the places she may have visited on Third Avenue. He questions a waiter at Eddie's Barn Grill about her visit and looks into a possible motive among Reed's gambling contacts. Lieutenant Mike Tobey of homicide is also working the case. Johnny follows leads that point in several directions as he tries to establish where Carol was during the hour of the killing.
New York City, late at night, including Reed's apartment, Third Avenue, and Eddie's Barn Grill.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
