What happens

Joan Davis and Jack Haley run the Sealtest Village Store, and they eagerly await the return of their old friend Lieutenant Rudy Valle of the Coast Guard. At the station, Joan and Jack misidentify several people before they meet Rudy, who brings gifts and sings for the store's customers. Rudy is later honored at a reception by the mayor, and Jack, through a mix-up with forms, ends up with an application to join the Coast Guard's Women's Reserve, the SPARS. The episode is part of the Joan Davis series and aired on October 28, 1943, on NBC.

The Sealtest Village Store and the train station in a small town, followed by a reception at the mayor's house.

Listen for: Jack Haley's mix-up with the priority form that leads to his unexpected application to join the SPARS.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
