What happens
Jerry Dugan, a boy who travels with a circus, learns that his uncle Dan, who is about to leave on a big game hunting expedition to Africa, wants Mr. Randall to become Jerry's guardian. Randall agrees and talks of sending Jerry to a good military school. Shortly after, a representative of the Montana Overland Railroad, Mr. Wells, arrives to buy Jerry's Montana land, which the railroad needs for a spur line. Jerry bargains hard, and the deal is struck at seventy-five hundred dollars. The transcript ends with Randall asking Jerry about the cheque and the papers still to be signed.
A traveling circus, in and around the office wagon, with the train bound for Winkler and the Montana land at issue.
Characters: Jerry Dugan, Uncle Dan, Mr. Randall, Mr. Wells, Jack Hastings
Listen for: Jerry's bargaining over the Montana property and Randall's reaction to the sale.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
