What happens

Jerry and Tom, a boy who works on a farm for Mr. Platt, become involved in a dispute over an old-fashioned vest after the circus that Jerry belongs to suffers a fire. Tom buys a red sweater from Platt's trunk, and Platt, who has a sharp temper, pressures the boy to sell a vest to the circus at an inflated price. Jerry is part of the Jerry of the Circus series, which aired on September 16, 1937. The episode is part of the series' run of radio adventures, and the cast is not named in the transcript.

A small town where a circus has just arrived, with a farm owned by Mr. Platt nearby, and the circus grounds with its tents and clown alley.

Characters: Jerry, Tom, Mr. Platt, Slats, Jason, Spike, Andy, Mike

Listen for: Pay attention to the red sweater Tom buys from Platt's trunk, and to Jason's suspicion that Platt may be connected to a robbery years ago.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
