What happens
Jerry Dugan visits the circus lot and meets performers, including the clown Major Mike and his rival Beppo, whose monkey Jacko is part of a balloon stunt. Major Mike is upset that Beppo has won the children's applause, and the two men have a wager on who will get the most cheers at the hospital show. Jerry learns about the performers' lives and their friendly rivalry. Jason, a trainer, mentions a registered government letter for Johnny Bradley, which Jerry agrees to deliver. The series is Jerry of the Circus, first broadcast September 8, 1937.
A circus, including the performers' area and the children's show grounds.
Characters: Jerry Dugan, Major Mike, Beppo, Jacko, Jason, Johnny Bradley
Listen for: Major Mike's reaction to losing the applause contest to Beppo, and the government letter Jerry is asked to deliver to Johnny Bradley.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
