What happens

Jerry, a young circus worker, learns that Spike, a new member of the crew, may be an escaped convict. Mr. Bradley, the manager, believes he has recognized Spike from a post office reward poster and plans to report him to Mr. Randall. Jerry is troubled, since he got Spike the job and considers him a friend. Earlier, Jerry had been sent on a fruitless errand for a key to the main top, which the crew used to tease Spike as a first-of-me, a green newcomer. Jerry goes to find Spike and tells him what Mr. Bradley has discovered, and Spike admits the warning is true.

A traveling circus in the morning, around the lot, the office wagon, and the canvas-raising area.

Characters: Jerry, Mr. Bradley, Spike, Mr. Randall, Murray, Ray

Listen for: Jerry's conversation with Spike behind the wagon, where Spike confirms he is the man on the reward poster.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
