What happens
Jerry of the Circus, a series from 1937, follows the young circus worker Jerry and his circus friends. In this episode, the circus is preparing to open for its next town when Major Mike, the little performer, goes missing. Jerry and his friends search the lot, and Kelly, the chief of the menagerie tent, and his men look for him. Major Mike is found asleep inside a monkey cage, and he explains that he became lost and was carried there by men he did not know. Kelly holds the door locked while the major calls out angrily. Meanwhile, Jerry and Patsy talk about a letter Jerry is waiting for, which may reveal whether his late father left a box belonging to him in a bank.
A traveling circus preparing to open in a new town, including its menagerie tent and the grounds around the wagons.

Listen for: The search for Major Mike and the scene where he is found asleep in the monkey cage.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
