What happens
Jerry of the Circus follows young Jerry as he tries to learn wire walking under the guidance of the circus performers. Jerry practices on a low wire with help from Alfredo and Carmen, who recall their own early falls and offer tips on balance and foot placement. Jerry borrows shoes that prove too big, and the group argues over a better pair. Meanwhile, Rags, the injured performer, listens in and jokes, and the talk turns to a telegram about the next stop and a concern that the wire may need checking. The episode is part of the Jerry of the Circus series and aired on August 2, 1937.
A circus camp, with a practice wire set up close to the ground beside the wagons, and talk of an upcoming town with a slow lot.
Characters: Jerry, Alfredo, Carmen, Rags, Bob, Happy, Carlos, Mr. Randall
Listen for: Alfredo's advice on keeping balance by watching the far end of the wire and keeping the body straight.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
