What happens

Jack Benny, recovering from a sprained leg at the O'Wally Hotel in Yosemite, passes the time in his room with his valet Rochester, his friend Mary Livingstone and others on his birthday. The group plays casino, trades jokes about Jack's injury and gossips about the nurse who is meant to be caring for him. Jack, impatient to be discharged, eventually settles his bill and prepares to leave for Hollywood. The Jell-O program's Jack Benny show of February 25, 1940 features Phil Harris and Eddie Anderson in supporting roles.

Jack Benny's room at the O'Wally Hotel in Yosemite National Park, and later the hotel lobby, where he is recovering from a skiing accident.

Characters: Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Rochester, Dennis Day, Don Wilson, Phil Harris, Dr. Nelson, Miss Kelly

Listen for: The running jokes about Jack's sore leg, the casino losses to Rochester and the mix-up over the nurse's whereabouts.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
