What happens

Jack Benny hosts his radio program alongside Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Dennis Day, Rochester and Don Wilson, opening with banter about meat shortages and a phone call that keeps failing. Jack then introduces a parody of The Whistler, in which a mysterious whistling figure seems to appear in the studio and urges the cast into a dark tale. The sketch follows Griffith and Gwendolyn Park, whose breakfast is interrupted by talk of her mother's visit, then their friend Kilroy the iceman, who becomes entangled with Gwendolyn in a scheme against her husband. Griffith comes home suspicious, and the story builds toward a murderous confrontation at the closet door.

A radio studio during Jack Benny's program, and then the Park household in a parody of The Whistler.

Characters: Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Dennis Day, Rochester, Don Wilson, Griffith Park, Gwendolyn Park

Listen for: The whistling figure in the studio and the sudden shift into the Whistler sketch, with Gwendolyn and Kilroy plotting against Griffith.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
