What happens
Jack Benny and Mary Livingstone take a Sunday walk to the studio and stop for a sandwich at a drugstore, where a chef he once knew sends Benny into a fit of indignation over the bill. Along the way they meet Rochester, who wants to borrow Benny's car for a date, and Benny's company gathers for rehearsal, where a quartet he has hired for the commercials sings for him. Edgar Bergen also comes to see Benny about a business matter, and Benny tries to interest him in the quartet. The Jack Benny series aired on NBC and CBS Radio, with Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris in the lead, and this episode is from October 13, 1946.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
