What happens

Jack Benny and his cast prepare for the Sunday night Jell-O program in 1936, with Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris among the performers. Mary is late, and Benny fields one excuse after another from his cast and family while the show gets underway. Then the cast presents an original sketch called The Eternal Triangle, in which a husband leaves on a business trip and his wife receives visitors in his absence. The sketch is performed in two scenes, the first set in 1936 and the second in a later year with the same cast. Between the sketch and the commercials, the program runs its usual mix of testimonials and musical numbers.

Listen for: Benny's exchanges with the cast and his telephone calls about Mary's late arrival, and the sketch The Eternal Triangle.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
