What happens

Jack Benny prepares for his radio broadcast in the studio, joking with his cast and audience while his bandleader Phil Harris and guests crowd in. Dennis Day tries to get a joke right, and Mary Livingstone takes a phone call from her mother about her sister's new boyfriend. The show then turns to a comedy sketch called Saturday's Hero, a parody of a college football film, in which Benny plays Steve Smith, a freshman football star who has a series of absurd encounters with his coach and classmates. The episode is part of the Jack Benny series, first aired on November 18, 1951, and starring Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris.

A radio studio before and during a live Jack Benny broadcast, then a fictional college football campus in a comedy sketch.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
