What happens
Jack Benny is away on a week's vacation in New York, so Robert Taylor fills in as the guest star on his radio program. Mary Livingston and Don Wilson are preparing the show when Phil Harris grumbles about being overlooked and Mary tries to reach Taylor by phone. Taylor arrives at the studio, but a man soon appears looking for Benny, claiming to have been married to him the day before and owed money. The cast then exchanges jokes with Taylor, Dennis Day performs, and a photographer named Nelson arrives to take pictures. The Jack Benny Program is broadcast for Lucky Strike cigarettes, and the episode is dated May 16, 1948.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
