What happens

Jack Benny hosts a broadcast from the Marine Base at Camp Pendleton, California, trading jokes with Don Wilson, Mary Livingstone, Dennis Day, Phil Harris and Rochester. The cast kicks off with banter about Benny's supposed lumber camp days, Dennis Day sings a song for the Marines, and Rochester calls in from Tijuana with a flat-tire excuse for being late. The show then turns to a comic sketch set on a Mexican rancho two hundred years earlier, in which Benny plays a wealthy landowner trying to marry off his daughter, played by Mary Livingstone, to a man of his choosing, while Phil Harris plays a Yankee salesman. The broadcast is a Grape Nuts Flakes program, and it closes with Phil Harris and his orchestra and a short message about eating a basic seven foods every day.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
