What happens
Jack Benny plays a version of himself on his radio program, joking with Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Kenny Baker and Don Wilson. The friends tease him about his dramatic roles and the comparisons to actor Paul Muni. Benny is annoyed when no one asks about his stolen car, and the group keeps trading jokes, including a mock secret society called BUTHD. The broadcast is part of the Jack Benny series, aired on June 4, 1939, on NBC and CBS Radio, with Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris in the lead roles. The program closes with a preview of an upcoming parody of The Hound of the Baskervilles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
