What happens
Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Eddie Anderson and Don Wilson present a broadcast from the Plaza Theater in Palm Springs. Before showtime, Jack naps while Rochester tends to the house, and Jack and Mary stroll the town's shops, which are mostly named after dates. At the theater, the manager, Mr. Trebe, visits Jack about a film screening. Larry Stevens sings a novelty song, and writer Gilbert Seldes is introduced as a guest critic who has faulted radio comedy for insult humor. The program then tries a sweeter, quieter format, with Jack and his cast adjusting their tone to suit Seldes's preference.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
