What happens

Jack Benny prepares to leave his Beverly Hills home for a sudden trip to New York City, with his wife Mary Livingstone helping him pack. He claims he is considering a Broadway role, perhaps in Shakespeare, and the couple trade jokes while gathering a heap of clothing. Eddie Anderson, playing Rochester, handles the luggage and the car, and Phil Harris and Don Wilson drop by with their own comic business. The episode is from the Jack Benny series and aired on January 26, 1941, on NBC and CBS Radio. The Jell-O sponsor is part of the broadcast.

Characters: Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Rochester, Phil Harris, Don Wilson, Dennis, Mr. Billingsley, Ronald Coleman

Listen for: Jack packing an increasingly large heap of clothes while Rochester and Mary argue over what he really needs, and the joke about Fred Allen's thin shoes

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
