What happens
Jack Benny wakes late on a Sunday morning at his Beverly Hills home and hurries to a rehearsal at the studio with Mary Livingstone, his valet Rochester, and his cast. The program is a Jack Benny episode from 1948, broadcast on NBC and CBS Radio and starring Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris. Rochester discovers that the ketchup Jack has been using in place of shaving cream has been found out, and Mary reads a letter from her mother describing a blizzard in Plainfield. At the studio, Dennis Day arrives in an expensive car with a chauffeur, and Phil Harris celebrates his wedding anniversary. The cast then rehearses a parody of the film Nightmare Alley, with Mary as the snake charmer Zina and Dennis as the two-headed man.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
