What happens
Jack Benny hosts a Mother's Day episode of his Jell-O program, with Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Eddie Anderson and Kenny Baker in the cast. Jack and his cast chat about how they marked the holiday, and the talk drifts to the Kentucky Derby and a horse named Sunset Trail. Then a telegram from a mother arrives asking for a schoolroom play to encourage her reluctant children. Jack agrees, and the cast prepares a classroom sketch titled The Bump on Teacher's Head, with Jack as the teacher. The episode first aired on May 9, 1937, on NBC and CBS Radio.

Characters: Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Eddie Anderson, Kenny Baker, Don Wilson, Andy Devine
Listen for: Jack's telegram from the mother and the classroom sketch that follows, with its jokes about the teacher and the students.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
