What happens

Jack Benny runs a rehearsal for his radio show, where the cast trades jokes and grumbles about missed rehearsals. Dennis Day, Mary Livingstone and Rochester feature in the banter, and Benny sets up a sketch based on the film Mississippi Gambler. The sketch shows two gamblers on a riverboat on the Mississippi, a card game that turns into a quarrel, and a dispute over a young woman and her brother. The Jack Benny Program aired on NBC and CBS Radio, and this episode is from 1953, with Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris in the lead roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
