What happens

Jack Benny and his cast perform a comic parody of Mae West's film Sheindeanwrong on the Jack Benny program, broadcast on March 31, 1933, over NBC and CBS radio. Benny plays a mission worker who arrives on the Bowery in New York in 1898 and falls for Lou, played by Mary Livingstone, a singer surrounded by admirers who give her diamonds. Other characters include Spider, Chick Anderson, and Captain, and the cast includes Frank Black's orchestra, Phil Harris and Eddie Anderson. The episode is largely a sketch of romance, rivalry and threat set in a bar, a dressing room and Lou's apartment, with the performers breaking in with jokes. This recap covers the first part of the episode.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
