What happens

Jack Benny is on the verge of selling a song to a sponsor when he discovers his only copy is missing. The search leads through his household, where Dennis Day, Phil Harris and the staff are all drawn into the confusion. The trouble starts with a bath-time struggle with Polly the parrot and widens as Jack's friends and servants pass along rumors and unlikely explanations. The episode is part of the Jack Benny radio series, first broadcast on October 28, 1951, and features Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris. Much of the story is built on the household's habit of borrowing and misplacing things.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
