What happens
Jack Benny hosts the final broadcast of his season, sponsored by General Tire, with Don Wilson, Mary Livingstone, Frank Parker and Phil Harris taking part. The show opens with Benny and Wilson trading jokes about football, with each member of the cast claiming a gridiron past. Bert Wheeler arrives as a guest and is coaxed toward the microphone, while Benny stages a party at his apartment. A hired chef and waiter struggle with the food, and the guests include a man who came with the wrong invitation. The broadcast was first aired on 1934-09-28 on NBC and CBS Radio, and the transcript ends before the story's conclusion.
A radio studio and then Jack Benny's apartment, where he hosts a party for the close of the General Tire season.
Characters: Jack Benny, Don Wilson, Mary Livingstone, Frank Parker, Bert Wheeler, Phil Harris
Listen for: The running football jokes that open the show, and the chaotic dinner party, in which the chef and waiter cause trouble.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
