What happens
Jack Benny prepares for a night out with Mary Livingston, who is taking him to see the mentalist Dunninger. Before leaving, Benny is shaved by his valet Rochester and receives a phone call from bandleader Phil Harris. Benny then visits Mary, who is still getting ready, and the two drive to a gas station on Third and Lafayette that Dunninger had described. There they meet a red-haired attendant, Larry Stevens, who sings while he works. Benny asks him to come on the program, as Benny is looking for a new singer. The Jack Benny Program aired on NBC and CBS Radio on November 5, 1944, starring Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
