What happens

Jack Benny plays the adventurer Alan Quartermain in a radio dramatization of King Solomon's Mines, performed as part of his own program on NBC and CBS Radio in January 1951. Mary Livingstone and Dennis Day join the cast, and Deborah Kerr, who starred in the film version, appears as the guest. Alan agrees to guide Deborah through the Congo in search of her missing uncle. Along the way they face a hungry village, a series of mishaps and a long desert crossing, and the expedition's outcome is left unresolved in this part of the episode. The broadcast is mostly comedy, with the cast trading jokes and song numbers during the adventure.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
