What happens
Jack Benny hosts a broadcast of his comedy program, which opens with banter about the Rose Bowl game and Illinois's win over UCLA. Phil Harris worries about his missing band members, while Dennis Day becomes smitten with Mary Livingstone and sends her a string of odd gifts and a lovestruck letter. Fred Allen's recent award is raised in a playful exchange, and Eddie Anderson, as Rochester, is roped into setting up for a rehearsal. The guest, Lauren Bacall, is rehearsing a scene from To Have and Have Not with Benny, and the rehearsal is interrupted when her husband, Humphrey Bogart, arrives. The broadcast of the Jack Benny program aired on January 5, 1947, on NBC and CBS Radio.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
