What happens

Jack Benny is vacationing in Palm Springs, and the episode follows his stay at the El Pocho Motel alongside Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Dennis Day and Eddie Anderson as Rochester. A mix-up over a note left in a pair of cowboy boots brings Dennis into Jack's room, and the cast trades jokes about Jack's golf, his tennis and his effort to cut back on drinking. The program's main sketch, Murder at the Racquet Club, sends Captain Benny of the Palm Springs police to the club after a report of a death by the pool, where he questions guests and the owner, Charlie Farrell. The broadcast is a comedy of errors built around Jack and the local crew.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
