What happens

Jack Benny prepares to leave for Houston, Texas, where he will be master of ceremonies at a charity football game. Rochester packs his bags as Benny juggles a series of phone calls with Phil Harris, Mary Livingstone and others while the departure time draws near. Benny heads to the train station with Mary, where he buys a magazine and runs into a mix of familiar and unfamiliar faces. On the train he meets Frank Leahy, the Notre Dame football coach, and the two share a dinner. This guide covers only the first part of the broadcast.

Los Angeles, a railroad station, and a train bound for Houston, Texas

Characters: Jack Benny, Rochester, Phil Harris, Mary Livingstone, Dennis Day, Frank Leahy

Listen for: Benny's repeated attempts to reach Phil Harris by telephone, and his unexpected train conversation with Frank Leahy

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
