What happens
Jack Benny and his cast fly to Palm Springs for a broadcast, with Dennis Day, Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris and Rochester aboard and Don Wilson along for the trip. Their nervous, joking flight leads to the group arriving and scattering to the theater and a restaurant. Meanwhile, a reporter named Slim Barton asks a stranger whether he has visited the Lone Palm, and the stranger begins a story set in the Palm Springs of 1849, during the gold rush. In that story, Pistol Packin' Mama, also called Livy the Leach, runs the Lone Palm Cafe, where a prospector named Rattlesnake Benny arrives with gold and is targeted by her crew. The episode is a Jack Benny program first broadcast on November 14, 1943, on NBC and CBS Radio.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
