What happens
Jack Benny broadcasts from the Marine Corps Air Station in the Mojave Desert to mark the 168th anniversary of the Marine Corps. Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris and Don Wilson join him, and the marines' aerial target practice keeps interrupting the program, with stray shots punctuating his opening speech. Benny complains to Colonel Adams, who promises to stop the shooting. Meanwhile, talk turns to a nearby Golden Queen gold mine, and Rochester is on the phone from the mine, where he has been digging. Dennis Day sings Beautiful Morning, and the show ends with a message about the Marines' birthday.

Characters: Jack Benny, Don Wilson, Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Dennis Day, Rochester, Colonel Adams, Sergeant Gillis
Listen for: The running gag about stray gunfire during the broadcast and the talk of gold in the nearby Golden Queen mine.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
