What happens
Jack Benny decides to have his house painted after Mary Livingstone suggests it one spring evening. The painter, Mr. Hawkins, arrives early the next morning, and the household soon becomes busy and chaotic. Rochester serves breakfast, Dennis Day and Don Wilson drop by with a commercial idea for a sponsor, and a man named Cevoni, whom Jack once gave money to on Vine Street, turns up hungry at the back door. Jack also agrees to help a children's baseball team and their school show, which requires him to fetch money from his vault. The program is a light, comic episode built around the morning's mishaps and the characters' running jokes.
Jack Benny's house in Beverly Hills, one spring morning and afternoon
Characters: Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Rochester, Don Wilson, Dennis Day, Mr. Hawkins, Mr. Cevoni, Butch
Listen for: Jack's arrival at the painter's visit, the pancake and cake-decorator gag at breakfast, and the Cevoni story about the guidebook to the movie stars' homes.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
