What happens
Jack Benny hosts a broadcast from the Hollywood Canteen, where servicemen gather to meet stars. Phil Harris struggles with arithmetic about his daughter's age, while Mary Livingstone returns from dancing down Vine Street with a crowd of soldiers and sailors. Rochester insists on singing for the boys, and Jack and Eddie Anderson trade jokes about their ages and their violin playing. Dennis Day sings a sentimental number, and Larry Adler plays harmonica. The program moves between skits, music and commercial-style jokes about breakfast cereal, and it is set in the canteen's kitchen and performance floor.

Listen for: Phil Harris's confused arithmetic about his daughter's age, and Rochester's attempt to sing for the boys
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
