What happens
Jack Benny's announcer Don Wilson has grown fed up after eleven years of introducing him, and he demands that Jack start paying him at once or he will walk off the show. Jack puts him off while the program goes on from the Army airfield at LeMoore, California. Mary Livingstone describes the air cadets she has met, Dennis Day sings, and Phil Harris bickers with Jack over music. A call from Rochester, who is out of gas and has the wrong ration book, adds to the trouble. The episode is from Jack Benny's program of March 5, 1944, starring Jack Benny with Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Dennis Day, Eddie Anderson and Don Wilson, broadcast on NBC.

Characters: Jack Benny, Don Wilson, Mary Livingstone, Dennis Day, Phil Harris, Rochester, Fred Allen
Listen for: Don Wilson's demand for pay after eleven years of introductions, and Jack's stalling
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
