What happens

Jack Benny hosts a broadcast from the Marine Corps base in San Diego, joined by Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Dennis Day and Eddie Anderson. Benny and Don Wilson trade jokes about Benny's own military past, and a former rival from Benny's naval training days, known as Bullface, turns up at the studio. Mary reads a poem praising the Marines, Dennis Day sings, and Benny's guest Joan Bennett is expected to arrive. The episode is a delayed transcription of a 1942 Jell-O program, with commercials for Jell-O along the way.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
