What happens

Jack Benny hosts his New York broadcast ahead of his Roxy Theater engagement, with Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson as Rochester, and Phil Harris on hand. Kenny Delmar fills in as announcer, and the show is filled with banter about Fred Allen, Chicago box office receipts, and Benny's money. Mrs. Nussbaum's neighbours are described as Benny's Mr. Kitzel tells of his move to the YMCA, and a long-distance call from the Sportsmen Quartet arrives. Al Jolson, the guest star, joins the program, trading lines with Benny about a lucky dollar and then singing a number with Phil Harris's orchestra. The program is broadcast with Lucky Strike sponsorship.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
