What happens

Jack Benny and his troupe perform a broadcast from Mitchell Field, a first Air Force headquarters, where they entertain soldiers. Benny tells Don Wilson and Mary Livingstone about enjoying winter in New York, with ice skating and a night of dancing that goes badly. A soldier named Elmer tries to sell Benny gags, and Larry Stevens sings a song. Benny frets over forgetting to notify his draft board, while Phil Harris teases him about his chances with the women and Ann Sheridan arrives. The date-swapping scheme goes awry when a blind date turns out to be Mrs. Newsbaum, a restaurant owner. The episode is a Lucky Strike sponsored Jack Benny program first broadcast on January 28, 1945, with Benny, Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris in the leading roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
