What happens

Jack Benny takes his usual early-morning walk through Beverly Hills, meeting a farmer from Calabasas who has come to town for a radio quiz program, and noting the neighbors' homes along the way. Back at home, his phone calls and household errands keep him busy, including a call from Dennis Day, who is working on a television picture about a prison riot. Bored, Jack picks up an old adventure book, The Mystery of the Elephants Graveyard, and begins to read it aloud, which sends the story into a jungle tale with a scheming professor. The Jack Benny series aired on radio in 1955, and this episode first aired on January 9, 1955, on NBC and CBS Radio. Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris are the lead actors featured.

Listen for: Jack reading the adventure book aloud and the sudden shift into the jungle story, with its absurd asides and jokes

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
